OUR CRAFT BEER PROGRAM
We work diligently to source out and offer the best examples of any given beer style each and every week.
Our 29 taps allow us to offer a wide selection of beers in various styles while few enough that ALL the beer moves quickly avoiding any chance of the precious liquid going stale in the line. All our beer selections are done on a rotating basis meaning there will very likely be a number of new options on our Draught List even if you visit us two days in a row.
In addition to beer, we offer a rotating selection of Cider, Mead, Wine, Cocktails, and Spirits.
In order to offer our guests the best possible craft beer experience, we make the following ‘promises’….
To constantly seek out the best examples of beer styles, exclusively from independently owned craft breweries. (Abiding by the Brewers Association standards).
Draught Lines are cleaned between every keg change and all faucets are disassembled for a deep clean once a week…every week.
All beer is served in ‘beer clean’ glassware. Your glass is given a final rinse with our glass sprayers to ensure any possible residue from the cleaning process has been removed before filling with beer.
All beer is served within it’s appropriate ‘fresh date’. We inspect every keg as they arrive and return any that we feel fall outside of their peek fresh date.
All kegs are stored cold to preserve flavour.
All staff are trained on proper pouring technique. The rim of your glass will not come into contact with our faucets nor will the faucets be ‘dunked’ into your beer to avoid any chance of contamination.
Our team is in a constant state of beer education, and we have one certified Cicerone on staff.

Thirsty Chef: A West Coast Food & Craft Beer Festival + Fundraiser
Thirsty Chef is an annual celebration of local food, independent craft beer, and community. Hosted by The Drake Eatery, the festival brings together talented chefs, breweries, and food lovers for an unforgettable afternoon of exclusive pairings, live music, and great company.
More than just a celebration of our local food and beer scene, Thirsty Chef is an opportunity to give back. Proceeds from the festival support the Victoria Cool Aid Society, helping provide essential housing, health care, and support services for people in our community.
Since its beginning, Thirsty Chef has continued to grow thanks to the incredible support of our guests, partners, chefs, breweries, and community. We’re grateful to everyone who helps make this event possible and looks forward to raising a glass together year after year.

Why do I need to order at the bar?
We strive to create a community atmosphere at The Drake. By having to order the bar you have the opportunity to experience the whole room. And while waiting in line why not make a new friend? Start up a chat about beer… who knows, you may make a life long connection?
Why did you call it The Drake?
Paying homage to Victoria’s first dedicated beer bar, we borrowed our name from The Drake Hotel and Beer Parlour that used to call Market Square its home (just across the courtyard from our location). It opened on the corner of Store and Johnson St. in 1954 and closed 20 years later in 1974.
Do you take reservations?
We operate primarily on a first come first serve basis for up to 10 guests together. If you have a larger group that you would like to bring in please email us the request at the thedrakeinfo@gmail.com with all the details. Thank you!
